Until the 1960s, the station of Lacabarède was an important hub for the textile production that flourished in the Vallée du Thoré. The Thoré is the river that runs through the valley in which the station is located. The water from the surrounding mountains contains no calcium and is therefore ideal for processing wool. The station remained in operation for goods transport until 1986, whereas passenger transport was discontinued in the 1970s. The station was thus operational for more than 130 years in all. Its charm has remained intact, however, and that was also the reason why Carine and Johan opted to go through with the project. The station was renovated over two years with the utmost care for the soul of the building. The four bedrooms and the gîte were renovated first, followed by the banquet hall and the adjoining refreshment stall.
